Papal Apology: Postscript

To
the world the Pope is not just the Head of the Catholicism Faith but a
Statesman, not a politician but rather a fatherly guardian. Therefore, even
though he ought to and should be able to say what his faith requires him to
do and guide and lead his faith, this position requires a great deal of
virtues including absolute care, thoughtfulness, wisdom and integrity and
humanity so that he does not become embroiled in controversies and fury of
the mob!
The
last Pope, may God bless his soul, spent his entire life that was able to
establish an image of a wise, kind, compassionate, caring and broad minded
man with almost infinite amount of humanity in him. He worked towards
working for not just advancing his faith but interaction, dialogue and
working together between faiths and spent his entire life to support and
promote humane causes without minimizing his role and responsibilities as
the head of Christianity. People may disagree with this picture of the last
Pope but this is how he was seen around the globe.
This Pope seems a highly intelligent wise man and surely aware of the utmost
importance of his office ought to now realise this from what happened from
his speech. There are extremists in every religion and Islam has it too! And
a lot of these people try to take advantage of any situation by using
religious avenues. It is natural, although even if one takes the view that
the Pope’s quote was taken out of context, that such remarks as made by that
quote would hurt and enrage Muslims. Protestations and processions against
anything that people do not like are part of democratic society but we must
not be led by criminal elements of any faith that try to hijack the debate
and make things violent, ugly and illegal as well as unacceptable. If the
Pope hurt Muslims by his comment they ought to and should be able to express
their anger by democratic means and Pope would have listened to it, and the
proof that he had in the quick apology, and respond it. Instead these so
called lovers of Islam who begin calling for the head of the Pope, these are
the people everyone in the community including the Muslim communities, ought
to be careful about.
On
the other hand having the apology out in the air the Pope now has the time
to reflect and one would have wished that he makes the point to follow his
predecessor who had spent all his life building something so great in terms
of the relationships with different faiths and with humanity of the world
and all this could be lost in a day like this which no one would want to see
happening. PL
