Why Poet's Letter Magazine?

Editor Munayem Mayenin answers this question in October Issue of Poet's Letter Magazine

Here we are, after publishing Poet’s Letter Magazine online for almost three years and after the launch of the first print issue at the Second London Poetry Festival 2006, 23rd August at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art!

Welcome to our second real (as opposed to virtual) issue with good old paper, dressed up with the designer gears of Quark Express and the rest, with the fragrance of the printers on its body and temperament.

Poet’s Letter Magazine! There are all sorts of magazines out there and hardly, surely, there is any more space on the news agents’ shelves for another magazine, particularly, to do with poetry!

You are right! But Poet’s Letter Magazine is not what others are! Poet’s Letter Magazine is not “just a poetry” magazine! It is the first magazine on this Universe that renounces neigbourhoodism, localism, provincialism, regionalism, nationalism, continentalism, internationalism and, it is here to say that Humanion of Humanity ought to now grow up and accept the fact that we live in this infinite universe where we find our little Milky Way Galaxy is part of Cluster of Galaxies and in it more than 200 billion giant stars allow our tiny little Sun star to be and by being it lights and heats up our little country, namely, the solar system. And on this little cosmosian space we find dots of planets surrounded by mini dots of their itsy bitsy moons and among the little big things we find an itsy bitsy round beautiful thing: our mother Earth and there our little countries that offer so called nationalism that does not hold water anymore!

The only identity that does and would hold water is our humanity and only political reality that should replace the sense of nationalism or any other isms that we named above by a sense of humanion of humanity that takes the custodianship to nurture, support, develop, cherish, enhance, enrich, respect, love and care about every living and non living thing and space and live in harmony with the universe. It is time, that is why Poet’s Letter Magazine is here, that we embrace humanity as our fundamental, inalienable and indestructibly inseparable identity and that our home is the universe and any ism that is big enough has to be universalism that looks at the infinite universe and defines its priorities and redefines its moral duties as well as adjusts its living, systems and mechanics. Imaginary borders imposed psychological barriers of identities and the days of so called dogmatic identities, so called, left, right and centre, pro and against this or that, are over. In order for humanity to avoid the fate of extinct dinosaurs we have got to be able to become one body, mind and soul: a true humanion.

Poet’s Letter Magazine is the first publication that is published with a country in mind: the Universe, a reader in vision: the Humanion and believes in a vision and philosophy: universalism.

Poet's Letter Magazine is a general interest national (and international) magazine, strongly rooted in the City of London, its life, living and the communities  and, covers Politics (British, European and International), Arts Actualisation, Theatre Arena, Geo-Politics, Social Dynamics and Change, Philosophy, Life, Living, Publishing World, , Poetry, Performance Poetry, Interviews of Poets, Writers, Singers and Artists, News and Events, Films, Photography, Citiscope, City Business and Community, Book Reviews, Performance Poetry Reviews,  Stories, Children's Lit, Youth Lit, World Poetry News, World Literature News, World Travel, World Religions,  Earth, Solar System, Milky Way Galaxy, Cluster of Galaxies, Infinite Universe, Music, United Nation of Humanity of Great Britain, Universal Humanion of Humanity, Letter to the Editor, Opinions and more.

This is delivered to our readers through the hard work of our team made of an Editor, an Executive Editor, two Deputy Editors, Assistant Editor,  Books Reviews Editor, City Editor, News Editor, Features Editor, Community Editor, Media Editor, Community Media Editor, Politics Editor, Films Editor, Africa Editor, Asia Editor, Europe Editor, Americas Editor, Australasia Editor, Listings Editor, Business Directories Editor, Festivals Editor, Music Editor, Business Editor, World Politics Editor, Literature Editor, Youth Editor, Young Lit Editor, World Travel Editor, Cosmography Editor, World Literature Editor, Translit Editor, Philosophy Editor, World Religions Editor, Landscape Editor, Photography Editor, Theatre Editor, Performance Poetry Editor, Humanics Editor, Life and Living Editor.

Yes, what about poetry! Poet’s Letter Magazine is here to celebrate the arts of words, ideas and thoughts and poetry is seen, treated and presented by us as an equal (no less, no more) sibling of any other branches of arts. Therefore, we are not going to publish apologetically, one poem somewhere in the magazine, where, if opportunities come to be embarrassed, we can always deny publishing it! Poetry is and should be treated as any other art forms. Poet’s Letter Magazine would provide a special prominence to any and every form of human creativity that we call Arts.

Except that, Poet’s Letter Magazine is going to publish writings on: poetry, performance poetry, books, book reviews, audio book reviews, interviews, philosophy, social dynamics and change, world literature, poetry and news, the earth, the solar system, the Milky Way Galaxy and beyond: not astronomy but geography and how it implicates and impacts on us, politics of it etc; we are going to publish stories and all other types of fictional and non fictional works, geo politics, life, living, music, world travel. We are going to publish thinkers for a thinking readership and we believe every living soul in these British Isles and everywhere on this planet is capable of and ought to think and question about life, living and the purpose of it all.

We are going to publish works about issues that impact on our lives yet no political parties or pressure groups would  talk about them because they don’t create good headlines or great images for them to use! We are going to publish writing about United Nation of Great Britain, United Nation of Humanity. We are going to publish writing about Australia, New Zealand, America, Canada and other English speaking parts of the world where people read, write and perform English Poetry.

We are going to publish writings on Europe and all other parts of the world treating the whole planet as a tiny little village in the cosmos and therefore whatever is going on in our village we ought to be able to know and talk about them.

We are going to publish writings about the British Isles and try to focus areas and their arts and particularly poetry and community lives.

Therefore Poet’s Letter Magazine is not any other magazine and if you allow it the time to demonstrate why it should have a space in your reading, thinking and mental cabinet and shelves we will try our best.

A final word: Poet’s Letter Magazine is not a colour thing: it is not white or black, yellow or brown or blue for that matter. It is a purely English/British publication that wants to see everyone from every communities, backgrounds and strata of life and living are coming together and forming a real thriving, connecting, developing and rainbow community where we are one in our multiple together.

We cannot do it on our own. Readers and visitors of our online magazine have supported us all these past years and we hope this continues to grow. Poet’s Letter Magazine is a choice thing, a community thing, a growing and living thing that needs to be chosen by you who make a choice to be part of this wonder thing.

One might say, this is too utopian an idea! This is too much of dream stuff! It is too much full of ideas and visions! Indeed! It is! No one can name one thing that we have on this earth that has come out of “no ideas”. It is dreams, ideas, visions and imagination where serious and longstanding things germinate first and then they follow reality! Let us have some dreams, let us celebrate ideas, let us inspire thoughts, let us embrace debates and help get vision, imagination and creativity take us somewhere better, safer, cleaner, more caring, loving and respectful place! Where we are truly happy, content and joyous in saying we live on earth and we are human beings and we are a humanion.
