Novelist Colum McCann will judge the winner of the first Stinging Fly Prize, which will become an annual award for new writing in association with the Tyrone Guthrie Centre The prize of €1,000 and a residency at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre Writers' and Artists' Retreat will go to a writer whose work (poetry or fiction) has been included in one of the three issues of The Stinging Fly published each year.

Salisbury House Open Poetry Competition 2006

1.  The competition is open to anyone aged 16 or over.  2.  Poems must be original, unpublished, not currently submitted elsewhere nor have           won any other prize.  3.  Poems should be typed or neatly handwritten in English and not exceed 50 lines. 4.  No entry form is required but on a separate sheet of paper give your name, address and telephone number, with the titles of the poems submitted.  It would             be        helpful if you told us where you heard of the competition.5.  Receipt of entry will be acknowledged only if a s.a.e. marked “Receipt” is enclosed with entry. 6.  A list of winners will be displayed on the web site at www.chela.co.uk/poetry.php   7.  The entry fee (Sterling only) is £3 per poem for the first three poems, £10 for 4 and       £2 per poem thereafter. 8.  Closing date is 1st November, 2006, and prize winners will be notified in early       January.9.   Copyright remains with the author but the organizers reserve the right to publish            the winning poems and a selection from the short list in an anthology.10.
