Politics: May 2005
Munayem Mayenin writes: No civilised nation on earth could run and
rule a country by persecuting and criminalising its minorities! Majority rules
because it enjoys the moral support both from the majority as well as the
minority: majority gives moral support so that power does not annihilate
minorities and minority gives support out of moral respect to the majority and
in the hope and expectation of goodness that creates a moral imperative for the
majority to act! When majority begins to disrespect its moral imperative to act
honourably, morally and judiciously the majority becomes a tyrant and persecuted
minority begins to feel criminalised and hunted by the majority. This must stop
by these politicians who are desperate for some votes: Great Britain and this
great nation is much bigger than any one or group of desperate politicians.
It is about time that "we the people" of Britain
stand up and make a statement for these politicians whichever political parties
or persuasions they come from, and say: stop this! Stop demonising minority
communities and groups! Stop criminalising and persecuting or supporting
persecution of minority groups! Leave the lone parents alone! Leave the
Travellers and Romano Communities alone! Stop demonising! Stop creating paranoia
and STOP USING RACISM to gain votes!
The Poet's Letter does not believe that British
people reflect how these politicians think! Britain could not have given birth
to modern parliamentary democracy, ethos and principles of civil liberties,
fundamental freedoms and human rights as well as upholding highest of all
values: liberal, progressive and humanistic way of thinking and living, a great
legal system and jurisprudence and due process of law as well as providing great
innovative contributions towards the advancement of medical sciences and science
and technology if we lived in the horrendous and ugly mind set of these hollow
minded politicians who whenever they feel are unable to be elected begin to dig
the dead devil of racism! Britain has not and would not have become Britain if
British people followed politicians like these who want to repel the human
rights act, who want to get us out of refuge conventions and get their
obligations off their head from International law, who are committed to scare us
of Europe when the world is edging towards a frontier less global humanity!
These politicians should be made to feel ashamed
to tell us and the world that Britain is racist! That we British people are
racists! That is an insult British people should return to these politicians!
Britain has become great not because it has
listened to these bigots but because it refused to listen to these people and
offered sanctuary to people fleeing persecution and it maintained all its high
values, principles, systems and institutions as well as way of thinking and
living no matter how testing the time is.
No civilised nation on earth could run and
rule a country by persecuting and criminalising its minorities!
That is not what Britain is about! That is not
what made Britain Great and we believe Britain will continue to be great because
we are not led by morons but by a system that is based and born out of
judiciousness, democracy and due process of law which does not and will not
tolerate racism or persecution nor will the British people.

Bangladeshi Journalists Receive Death Threats:PEN
English PEN is deeply concerned about journalists Samaresh Baidya (m), Zubair
Siddiqui (m) and Sumi Khan (f), who received death threats mailed to their
offices between 10 and 12 March. The threats purported to be from local Islamist
groups whose activities they had been reporting on. English PEN believes the
lives of the three journalists are in danger.
All three are reporters for publications based in the city of Chittagong, in the
south of the country. Samaresh Baidya works for the daily newspaper Bhorerkagoj;
Zubair Siddiqui works for a weekly magazine, Ajker Surjodoy; and Sumi Khan
writes for the magazine Shaptahik 2000. The letter to Sumi Khan told her to
immediately retract all the articles that she had written on Islamist groups,
and threatened grenade attacks on her home and office if she ever reported on
these issues again.
Sumi Khan was stabbed and seriously injured on 27 April 2004 as she was on her
way to send a report to her editor. She had written a number of investigative
articles about the alleged involvement of local politicians and Islamist groups
in attacks on members of minority communities, kidnapping and land-grabbing by
landlords. Before the attack she had received several anonymous threatening
phone calls, warning her not to "defame" people in her reports, and her
attackers apparently yelled at her that she would be killed if she did not stop
writing. No one has yet been arrested or charged in connection with the attack.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
At least four journalists have been killed in the past year in Bangladesh and
dozens have been threatened or seriously injured in violent attacks. These
attacks and threats relate directly to the issues that these journalists have
been reporting on. No one has been brought to justice for these threats and
attacks, and thus many journalists and human rights defenders live in a constant
state of intimidation, unable to carry out their work without fear of attack.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Please send appeals to arrive as soon as possible:
calling on the government to launch prompt, independent and impartial
investigations into the death threats received by Samaresh Baidya, Zubair
Siddiqui and Sumi Khan;
calling for these reporters and their families to be given full protection by
the state;
calling on the government to publicly condemn these death threats, and to ensure
that the state responds seriously to all threats against journalists and human
rights defenders.
(There is a letter you can copy and paste at the end of this email.)

Serbia and Montenegro: Failure to fulfil key human rights commitments:Amnesty
Two years after joining the Council of Europe, Serbia and Montenegro (SCG)
continues to ignore its obligations to implement key human rights commitments,
notably in dealing with the legacy of war crimes and police torture and
ill-treatment, Amnesty International said today.
While welcoming steps towards fulfilling some of these commitments, Amnesty
International is concerned that the limited progress in many areas, such as full
cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia
(Tribunal) in The Hague and investigation into allegations of police torture and
ill-treatment has been stalled or even reversed, especially in Serbia, in the
last year.
In a report "Serbia and Montenegro: A wasted year. The continuing failure to
fulfil key human rights commitments made to the Council of Europe", Amnesty
International lists the commitments that SCG has failed so far to implement and
gives numerous examples as illustrations.
"Many of those responsible for the gravest human rights violations during the
armed conflicts after the break-up of Yugoslavia continue to enjoy impunity.
Despite international and national obligations the authorities of SCG refuse to
arrest and transfer people indicted by the Tribunal relying instead on voluntary
surrenders and rarely prosecute such crimes domestically. The climate of
impunity surrounding these crimes is mirrored by the lack of will by the
authorities to investigate allegations of possible unlawful killings, deaths in
custody, and police torture and ill-treatment," Amnesty International said.
The Serbian authorities have continued to refuse to transfer to the Tribunal
former Serbian Assistant Interior Minister and former Kosovo police chief Sreten
Lukic and former Yugoslavia Army chief Nebojsa Pavkovic. Both of them are
indicted for crimes against humanity and violations of the laws or customs of
war in Kosovo in 1999. Both are openly residing in Serbia. Despite the recent
voluntary surrender and transfer to the Tribunal of six people, a number of
suspects indicted by the Tribunal are believed to remain at large in SCG.
To date there have been no trials in SCG of senior military or political
officials for war crimes or crimes against humanity in connection with the
Yugoslav conflicts. Many of those responsible for abductions and murders of
Bosnian Muslims and Kosovo Albanians remain unpunished. The practice to put on
trial exclusively low level perpetrators encourages the culture of impunity for
the military and political leadership. No-one has yet been charged in connection
with the hundreds of Kosovo Albanians buried in secret mass graves on Serbian
Ministry of the Interior property. Potential witnesses to the alleged
incinerations of Kosovo Albanian bodies in Serbian industrial furnaces in 1999
have allegedly been intimidated by security officials to prevent the facts
emerging.

Yemen: Amnesty
International welcomes release of editor-in-chief, calls for end to punitive
measures against other journalists
Amnesty International welcomes the release today of Abdul Karim al Khaiwani,
editor-in-chief of al-Shura newspaper, but remains deeply concerned at the
punitive measures the government of Yemen continues to impose against
journalists, including arrest, imprisonment, fines and suspended prison
sentences.
Abdul Karim al Khaiwani's release came following a pardon by President 'Ali'
Abdullah Saleh issued on 23 March. Two days earlier the Court of Appeal had
upheld the Lower Court sentence of a one-year prison term imposed on the editor
and the six-month closure of al-Shura newspaper. On 8 March Amnesty
International issued a public statement calling for an independent and impartial
investigation into reports that members of Abdul Karim al Khaiwani’s defence
team were forcibly removed from a recent appeal hearing on 1 March and badly
beaten by security officials following a disagreement between lawyer Mohammed
Naji Allow and the court presiding judge. Other people attending the trial were
said to have been beaten by security officials when they tried to leave the
court room in protest against the violent treatment of the lawyers.
Other journalists punished for their articles include Abdul Wahid Hawash and
Abdul Jabbar Saad, editor and journalist for Al-Ehyaa Al-Araby newspaper, who in
December 2004 received suspended prison terms of between four and six months
after writing articles reportedly criticizing Saudi Arabia.
AI calls on the government of Yemen to put an end to punitive measures against
journalists and ensure respect of the right to freedom of expression enshrined
in Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR)
to which Yemen is a state party.

India: Nine
years after Jalil Andrabi's death perpetrators still free
The continuing failure of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to bring to
justice those responsible for the death of human rights lawyer Jalil Andrabi
nine years ago reinforces the sense that human rights defenders in the state
cannot count on the state’s protection, Amnesty International said today.
On 27 March 1996, the dead body of human rights lawyer Jalil Andrabi was found
in the river Jhelum, 19 days after he was seen being taken away by military
personnel. Those responsible for his death remain free despite continuing
efforts by members of his family and the members of the Jammu and Kashmir High
Court Bar Association to obtain legal redress for the death of their relative
and former colleague. The Jammu and Kashmir High Court noted in late 1996 that
'the functionaries of the Union of India have not been cooperating with the
Investigation Team in a proper manner'. The family of Jalil Andrabi has
expressed its feeling of frustration and loss of faith in the institution of the
judiciary which has failed to provide legal redress for nine years.
Amnesty International believes that justice must be done to ensure that human
rights violations end. Undue delays will produce the impression that
perpetrators can get away with abuses and that the state shields its agents from
being brought to justice. The organization reiterates its repeated earlier
appeals to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to break the cycle of impunity by
ensuring that perpetrators of all human rights violations in the state are
brought to justice without delay and in a transparent manner in order to restore
people's confidence in the rule of law.

The Multi-billion Dollar Trade that Puts Women
in the Firing Line: Amnesty
Women are paying an increasingly heavy price for the dangerously unregulated
multi-billion-dollar trade in small arms, according to a new report issued today
on the eve of International Women's Day.
There are now estimated to be almost 650 million small arms in the world today,
mostly in the hands of men, and nearly 60 percent of them in the hands of
private individuals. Women and girls suffer directly and indirectly from armed
violence:
* An attack with a gun is 12 times more likely to end in death than an attack
with any other weapon;
* In South Africa, a woman is shot dead by a current or former partner every 18
hours;
* In the USA, a gun in the home increases the risk that someone in the household
will be murdered by 41%; but increases the risk for women by 272%;
* In France and South Africa, one in three women killed by their husbands are
shot; in the USA this rises to two in three;
* Family killings are one category of homicides where women outnumber men as
victims with her partner or male relative the most likely murderer.

The world is busy forgetting all the horror that
continue crippling a great part of humanity and no one has time to scream for
the drowning mass of people who are doomed to get on with it and carry on
getting murdered. On this back drop SUDAN Network, a network of students
demanding actions for the people of Darfur. The Poet's Letter supports their
demand and would like to invite everyone to enlist their name to this call. This
is their statement of Position:
Statement of Position
In light of the continued
egregious human rights violations in Darfur, we, the Students United for Darfur
Action Now (SUDAN), unequivocally demand the attention and action of the
international community. Recognising that the inherent dignity of the people of
Darfur is daily being compromised, it is the moral duty of the international
community to act in protection of those being victimised.
Thus, we call on the Security
Council of the United Nations, the United States, the United Kingdom, and the
Sudanese government to immediately take action. Calling in mind the tragedy of
Rwanda in the early 1990s, we beseech the Security Council to prevent the
continued genocide occurring in Darfur. We recommend that the Security Council
and the member states thereof, support efforts to reverse ethnic cleansing,
protect civilians, permit the voluntary return of refugees, and to ensure that
humanitarian aid is fully accessible to persons in need. Members of
international community should encourage the immediate dispatch of a UN human
rights monitoring team, with the purpose of providing a thorough analysis of the
continued violations. We call on the international community to demand that the
Sudanese government be held accountable for allowing continued human rights
violations. Finally, we remind relevant parties that ethnic cleansing is a crime
against humanity and it is, therefore the duty of humanity, in its entirety, to
act in the protection of persons being arbitrarily deprived of their rights.
It is inevitable that one day our
grandchildren will ask us - just as we have asked of our parents and
grandparents following the atrocities of Nazi Germany - "What did you do?". If
we value the contributions made by Anne Frank, Primo Levi, and Nelson Mandela to
our understanding of the sacredness of all human life, we should also value the
lesson they have taught us: the cost of waiting is always too great. Rwanda
demonstrated only too recently that it takes hours to exterminate a community,
and a few minutes to kill hope.

Capitalism: American Monsterfly
M unayem
Mayenin
While the first volume of Dehumanisation of Humanity awaits publication here is
a chapter for everyone. People who are interested in other already published
chapters in Philosophy publications please follow the links at the end of this
piece that will take you to the relevant websites where originally these were
published.
This issue
has: Capitalism: American Monsterfly.
Before starting this chapter we want to say that “American Monsterfly” used in
the title of this chapter does not at all mean American people, rather it is
used to mean the system of globalised capitalism and there is no other
expression to use, particularly, for the fact that the leading power and system
of globalised capitalism is American government. Hence, In this chapter we aim
to analyse the capitalist system that we are seeing in the United States of
America because we must understand this beast-this monsterfly of capitalism,
which now leads the globalised phase of Capitalism across the globe and not only
it aspires to dominate the planet but also aims, plans, invests and aspires to
dominate the space and beyond!
America is not a different capitalism, rather it has now reached the leadership
stage to bully the world and establish capitalism in a global way. As discussed
in the globalisation chapter on capitalism, we can see that power will not stop
at a particular point! So long there are spaces and people or lands or entities
which it can turn into money, wealth and power it will carry on trying to
dominate and control them! Power has infinite greed for more, power has infinite
want for more, power has infinite need for more and power has infinite lust for
more!
Once
the monsterfly is up and flying it will try to get to fly and get to the top!
But only this is a monsterfly and thus wherever it flies it burns, dazzles and
kills! It is a venomous beast! It cannot sustain humanity; it cannot tolerate
humanity because it is the beastly face of power that has none of what it takes
to make humanity: Power does not have any rationality, morality and purpose. It
can not stand natural justice and will not tolerate liberty and equality. These
foundations create humanity and allow them to grow and develop and prosper. Thus
the very thing that is born, advanced and enhanced to kill off humanity must
need to be understood so that we can rescue ourselves from this monsterfly and
begin again our journey towards humanity.
American capitalism is at a crisis point and it cannot be rescued by the
democrats or the republicans as they cannot make miracles happen. Their economic
system is at a verge of collapse. All the so called American dreams and American
way of life can offer is downhill spiral of doom. Moreover, in order to improve
the situation blood needs to be injected and there is no blood to be found in
the economy. The industries cannot and do not want to pay more taxes because
they already pay huge donations, million dollars to election campaigns of
parties and leaders. People not only do not want to pay more taxes but also
harbour the wish to pay even less as they want to consume more! So the federal
government tries to pass the bucks to the state governments and they try to pass
it on to others! But things cannot go on like this. American monsterfly of
capitalism needs blood. They need not only to globalise capitalism and take a
huge lead in it to ensure that they get the most benefit out of it. They have
two problems at hands the liberal values and humanitarian aspects of some
organisations that have become quite dominant, namely, the United Nations and on
the other side of Atlantic the European Union. We would talk about these two
entities in detail in time, however, to American agenda United Nations must now
be threatened, made weak and "irrelevant" and buried so that America could
replace it and become the legitimate Untied States of Enslaved Nations brought
together with force used under the name of pre-emptive strikes! It cannot
tolerate the fact that the UN stands on the highest of regards and as the last
post of nations. To the States UN was an entity to keep the USSR under control
and it served its purpose and now that the USSR resides in the history books and
lessons it can afford to take it on.
Moreover, it cannot allow the UN to do things as the States needs blood from the
world to rejuvenate its ailing economy and system. It went about doing this in
phases starting with the Kuwait adventure helped by Saddam Hussein. He went in
and occupied that country creating an opportunity for the State not only to go
and rescue Kuwait but also to go and get a foot hold in the Middle East, using
that foot hold would later prove to be quite a wonderful achievement. The money
that was spent in "liberating" Kuwait and rebuilding it and the contracts that
followed all went to America. Moreover, it created an image of the states as the
custodian of nation's sovereignty and justice. Then it went onto Bosnia and
Serbia in an effort to kidnap the UN and its roles and thus it established
itself to be the latest UN, rather an effective one, one that does and can do
the business rather fast. Thus there would rather be less hostility towards the
American interventions.
Then
came the September 11th that gave it the moral high ground and the
public enthusiasm for blood. America tried its hands with Afghanistan. It was a
doodle! However, it created that international custodian of democracy and
justice image. In that one America tried to build a big support base as it
needed people to be ready to pay for the building up of that country, obviously
which would be done by American companies! There it was more blood coming in the
State's ailing economy. Not only it has brought in blood but also ensured that
there was a government installed in Kabul that would look after the interests of
the State. Now there were bigger fishes to be fried! Iraq! Wow! Iraq has got
Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)! Is there any weapon available on this planet
that is not of WMD nature! What about all these American weapons! No! Saddam
Hussein was the evil dictator! Who installed him in power? Who supported him and
had him, fight 8 years of a bloody war with Iran? Who gave him all the weapons!
Why on earth Saddam went to occupy Kuwait! That is not why America wanted to go
to Iraq! Iraq has enormous oil wealth. If it was destroyed then it must then be
rebuilt that will cost thousand of billions of dollars and the world monetary
organisations will be willing to loan out that amount of money to Iraq than
Zimbabwe! Now we have another lot of few thousand of billions of dollars blood
supply coming in to American economy! Who are getting these contracts to restore
water supply, electricity, gas and medical supplies and humanitarian supplies!
American companies of course! Where is the money going to come in from! On the
war to which billions of dollars have been spent, how come American government
can cut taxes! Where have they got the money to fund that cut and pay for the
war!
Morst importantly, they now have the ability to install a pseudo Iraqi
government that will ensure that these thousands of billions of dollars continue
coming in to the States! Let the Iraqis continue pay the debt in the name of
interests and regular payments!
Look
at the picture, Kuwait gave them the foothold in the Middle East! Basing on that
they went and occupy Iraq! Now they can take on Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia,
Jordan, Turkey and more! The future is secure for the American monsterfly! It is
not about democracy, it is certainly not about human rights and it is definitely
not about justice! Because capitalism does not understand these words or
concepts! American constitution may start with "We the people" it is not the
people that is America! It is the capitalist monsterfly that wants to dominate
the whole world and it is not willing to share the windfall! Because sharing is
the job for the weak not for the strongest!
Whatever name we give it democrats or republicans or even neo-conservatives the
power base of America has always been pseudo democratic in show and democratic
fascist in nature. The correct name of the political philosophy can be described
as democratic fascism. What do we mean by democratic fascism? Well, world
intelligentsia, please allow us the time to explain. Whatever democracy means it
does not mean dual principles, dual standards and dual values and value systems.
What would one see if one looks at the system of American governance! It is
racist! It is supremacist! It is hypocritical and as far as people are
concerned, they are made to think the business of politics is not for the
ordinary men to be concerned about. The presidents, the senators and the
congressmen and women and their diplomats will deal with it! People should work,
pay their bills and mortgage, eat their hot dogs, watch the baseball games and
the dazzling spectacle of Hollywood!
They
should not be concerned about anything but the public opinion manipulative so
called polls! They should not at all give a damn about breaches in human rights,
civil liberties, gun-craziness, rapes, murders, serial killings, homelessness,
child abuse, unemployment, powerlessness, and power dominance! No. They should
continue eating their hot dogs and watch Independence Day and think about the
made up alien enemies coming to invade America! Feed the absolute paranoia!
They should not give a damn about state killings through death sentences, they
should not at all think about human rights! They should not be concerned about
murders in their names! Assassinations authorised by their government taking
place, Americans must not be concerned! American should be only concerned if
their pockets are affected! Even than they cannot but elect Arnold
Schwarzenegger! Hence, this is an appeal to the fellow members of the beautiful
humanion of humankind living in America please do not allow yourself to think
that this author hates America and Americans! No, we most certainly do not and
will never ever support hatred to be pursued against humanity. This is no
Marxism and there is no class struggle or red blood bath we are proposing here!
Think about the cost! Look at the thousands of dead people, killed,
assassinated, murdered, mimed, and made to disappear by American policies! Think
about the courageous American soldiers who were sent to kill and they did
exactly that for what! They got killed for what reasons! What difference does it
make if someone is a Vietnamese or Somalian or Kuwaiti or Iraqi or American! Are
they not the same! Sons and daughters of this little blue planet mother of ours!
Why
this is not okay to treat Americans with contempt, violate their civil liberties
and human rights and this is perfectly legal, morally acceptable, politically
beneficial to treat human beings the way American government are treating the
POWs in Guantanamo Bay!
America does not have democracy. People do not elect or influence their
government! If the did, there would not have been a war in Iraq! People have no
powers anywhere! Look at Britain! If people had any power no prime minister of
Britain would have dared to go on war against Iraq with America! But they went
to war anyway! What does this say!
Well, it is perfectly “acceptable”, “logical” and morally “supportable” to treat
immigrants, blacks, African American, Caribbean, Hispanic, Chinese, Japanese and
other Asian dominated but poverty stricken, deprived and underprivileged with
horrendous contempt and disregard. The treatment of these groups of people (as
these people provide the greatest chunk of the criminal fraternity in America)
by the police and other law enforcement agencies and the judiciary including the
death sentence goes to show how criminally American life is governed! And who is
saying and doing anything about it. Everyone thinks that as the constitution
start with “We the people” it is democracy all over everywhere! It is not! Where
is the democracy! People have no power over who they elect! Money does! Whoever
spends the most in election campaign and can dominate the media (which takes a
great deal of money and wealth) wins the election!
CIA
can “legally” kill people, businessmen, writers, leaders and activists so long
they are not American and that they are “harming” American interests! No one
gives a damn about this in America! So long Americans have their jobs and homes
and life styles secure they do not give a damn! No matter what their presidents
get up to with countless interns at the Whitehouse Americans still vote for the
president regardless as the economy was good for them thanks to the president or
presidents! This is how the power manipulates people.
Who
cares how many Vietnamese got murdered and incinerated and burnt to ashes! Yes,
American soldiers died there too! In their thousands! They were like the
Vietnamese sons and daughters, brothers and sisters and husbands and wives and
children of other human beings! But why did Americans go half way across the
world and kill in their thousands! Vietnamese did not kill Americans in American
soil, did they!
What
about all the killings American took part in the world! In Vietnam! In Latin
America! In Middle East! In Balkan! How many thousands assassinations had been
committed by American security agencies around the world! But how many Americans
think about that! They wonder why the people of the world do not like them!
People are not rational! They like to generalise and thus they think Americans
are the culprits for all this! However, the situation is this that American
conscience is deeply asleep at best and at worst catastrophically drunk! Nothing
affects its sleep or drunkenness! That is why America has been, is and will be
governed by democratic fascism. American intelligentsia has a moral duty to wake
up from this hibernation infected to them by this so called American dreams or
American justice! God! It gives me a chill hearing this American justice! What
is this justice! Black African American still getting beaten up by the police
and ethnic minorities are “allowed” to exist, driving taxis and cleaning streets
and keep the flow to the criminal world! Wow! The American justice!
Get
alive or dead! Is that why American fought for freedom and liberty! To hang
people, to gas people, to put people in electric chair! Americans in en masse,
the intelligentsia en masse and the conscience en masse must wake up and must
begin to see and realise that killing by state like this by the name of law is
politically vulgar, socially damaging, morally repugnant, philosophically
bankrupt! This must stop! Americans cannot claim they had anything to do with
Christianity at all! What is so Christian about murdering people by the name of
law and in such a way that no one finds it at all objectionable! At all! As if
this is the most natural thing to happen! Why, we must ask! This is happening
because of the power, the way it is organised and exercised and because this
provides the system a great way to keep control over and ensure good night’s
sleep to the normals. It feels safer to normals and powerfuls when all these
criminals are known to have been silenced forever! Most importantly the
politicians play with this and hence Americans do not feel there is anything
wrong with death penalty! There are a lot of people who would and do feel
strongly against this yet because of the dehumanisation and disempowerment they
cannot do much. Moreover, democratic fascism does not tolerate dissent but crush
it with the dictatorship of majority! Ban whatever and whoever is minority,
small and less powerfuls!
Whoever in power they like dictators! They like “god-like-presidents” although a
lot of these presidents turn out to be rather good at getting American soldiers
killing people across the globe!
The
Septembers 11th tragedy was and will be one of the biggest, ugliest,
darkest hours in humanity’s history and the monsters who had committed the acts
of cowardice and absolute lunatic madness are rightly hated across the globe and
will be so long humanity lives on in this universe. However, one must then go
onto look at what happened afterwards!
Americans democratic fascism never believed in democracy! That was why they
invented the most “acceptable” types of fascism. This is a “democratic” version
of Hitler. What is so wrong with Hitler! Well! He had made Germans to believe
that they were blue blood, pure blood and the rest of the animals impersonating
their physical features must be killed or brought under subjugation. This is the
plane definition of Hitler’s fascism! The similarities with American style!
American way of life! American civilisation! American dream! American rhapsody!
American Psycho! American Justice! American hot dogs! American what! American
which!
Nationalism in humility is a good thing and with passion and philosophical
viewpoint can act like biological weapons of a deadly virus that can and does
produce fascism! What is American justice! Why is democracy so violently a
believer of death penalty! Most of the world believes that humans are entitled
to their lives! No, not in America! American justice gets you “dead or alive” if
you are wanted. This is not democracy this is fascism! But Americans do not say
a word! They accept it! Well they want to sleep in peace as they pay taxes. They
do not want criminals to rob their sleep! The Americans accept it! They accept
their soldiers going to another country and occupy it and kill their people,
bomb their buildings, schools, mosques, churches and paddy fields! Americans do
not say a word! The majority support their presidents! They violate all the
rules of war all international conventions of war and treatment of PWOs and
Americans including their biggies the congressmen and women and senators! They
do not do a thing! When American administration treats POWs from Afghanistan
like rats and wild snakes no one in America loses their sleep over it! To them
so long they are not American kill them or treat them with contempt or kick them
or blind them or murder them or rape them or burn them or assassin them! No one
give a damn! That is not new! Hiroshima and Nagasaki! Well, how could America be
bad they were the vanguard of freedom, liberty etc etc! But who had decided to
incinerate the children, elderly, women, disabled, blind, dead and the whole of
their part of the world! No one said a word! And those who did or still do are
not the power and hence there is nothing happening!
People might say that this author is putting a blanked of wild allegations about
American people! These American people are not any different than other
dehumanised people across the world! The system makes us like this so that “we”
the Germans (humanity in Germany) clap the filthy rubbish of Hitler and support
him and turn out to listen to him in our millions! We have some responsibility
in allowing Hitler to become Hitler! We must be ready to take some
responsibility for our claps and for our inactions!
“We”
the Russians (humanity in Russia) supported and clapped and helped create Stalin
and other dictators and we must take our share of the responsibility that we
allowed that human filth to get stronger and bigger!
Like
this when “we” the American (humanity in America), or “we” the Pakistani
(humanity in Pakistan) must take the share of killings, murders and genocide of
3, 000000 Bangaalis, or when “we” the Israelis kill thousands of Palestinians
and “we” the Palestinians kill in revenge we must take some responsibility!
Coming back to the point of American democratic fascism! Look how powerless the
people are in America! They know the whole world is against them! They know that
the whole humanity is going against them! Do the people have any power to
influence their government! Well, honestly, none whatsoever. Next election? We
must live in cuckoo land! What about the millions and millions of dollars of
election campaigns and propaganda and what not! Who is getting bought and sold
and for how much who can influence anything! Thus these so called neo
conservatives or the real democratic fascists are at the helm led by a president
who has not got a clue about the world and let alone lead his country. He speaks
like a bounty hunter! He is no angel! He represents the foxes that are let out
to hunt freely! It does not help anything if Americans rename French Fries
something else! There is no point thinking American power and the people are the
same!
The
Independence Day is the ideal example of this democratic fascism! It creates a
pseudo enemy, sometimes it takes aliens’ face shapes, sometimes it takes
hurricane’s shapes, tornadoes, sometimes deadly virus or falling meteor or even
huge prehistoric creatures or even revitalised dinosaurs! All create a pseudo
but all powerful enemies of American people and they feel that they must now
save themselves and save the world! They went to the Moon to win the Cold War
race with the Soviet but took an American flag and hung it up there as if the
American flag is the flag of humanity! Why do we say that! Remember, a small
step for man and a giant leap for mankind! See the point! The Independence Day
saves American on 4th of July but by saving Americans, Americans as
well save the World! That’s the democratic fascism!
America could produce a lot of enemies! They would even try and get genetics to
come up with rubbish to find and support the biggest of all human filth, racism!
America is the monsterfly of capitalism and having “won” the cold war, having
dismantled the old Soviet Union and China in the line and having taken on middle
east and Balkan America wants to take on and gradually destroy the UN and EU to
become the ruler of the world with people in power whose god is America, whose
religion is American and whose morality is American interests. This is the
agenda of America. Globalisation of capitalism has been spreading but America
wants to lead the globalisation and dominate the markets and people including
the space.
Now we must deal with three issues here before we enter into some
other issues. The point being we the people and our responsibilities! We do not
take the view that just because we have voted for someone to represent us does
not take our moral duty and rights away form us! We still must exercise these
moral duties and discharge them. If we fail to do that then we allow democracy
to turn into fascism, which is what happens in the democracies in the globalised
capitalism! Most importantly the very democracy we are singing about had no
faith in people’s ability to think or being able to make decisions! In fact
democracy was scared to death to a thinking public, a thinking union of an
actively engaged membership of society. That is why we had to invent
representative democracy! It is most of the times difficult to represent
oneself, let alone represent others in their hundreds of thousands! And what
about political, social, economic, religious, family and friendly loyalties and
the loyalties to political dogmas and ideologies and all the other factors!
Hence, the seed of failure or prospects of representative democracy was sown
here when we went for representative form of democracy! This must happen and
which is what happened across the globe! We do not even have representative
democracy instead we ended up having democratic fascism! And because of
democratic fascism a huge part of the globe and countries in it are ruined by
brutal dictatorships and even these places are not at likely to even have
representative democracy!
Now
coming back to the responsibilities. Hitler came about but we clapped, we went
hysteric! We hailed Hitler! We worshiped him! We helped make him what he had
become! Good people did act morally! Good people sent their conscience in
hibernation! And now we all hate Hitler! Rightly, yet we are supporting (either
directly or by proxy for the fact that we are either unable or unwilling to do
anything). Hence things are being done in our names and we accept this!
We
must wake up from hibernation! We must accept that we are not here to clap for
representative democracy or democratic fascism we are here to get to humanion
democracy, where we as individuals do not give away our moral, social, political
economic, religious or any other rights to anybody but keep them to ourselves
and we exercise them and thus everybody actively takes part in how the world and
the universe is shaped up. We must rise up and say this is not on by our names!
We are not going to hibernate anymore!
This
is no longer going to work! Politicians keep telling us that how difficult it is
for them that they had to make difficult choices! In fact they do not make any
choices! There cannot be a choice whether to send troops to Iraq or Vietnam to
bomb and kill innocent people and get the nation’s innocent army killing
innocent people as well as getting them killed! There is no choice in shutting
down hospitals and schools and forcing people to live on the street! There in no
choice in the way we are forced to live!
This
democratic fascism must be faced and taken on and be defeated! Americans and
American intelligentsia must declare their ownership or belongingship to “we the
people”.

On 'Dehumanisation of

Chapter 1, 'Zero Ground'. The author is an amateur philosopher who studied in
Bangladesh. I was moved by the passion of these writings and charmed by their

his opposition to violence of any kind. Settle down for a gripping read."

Death of Amnesty International founder --- Peter Benenson, 1921-2005
Mr Benenson died at 10.45pm on Friday 25 February 2005 in the John Radcliffe
Hospital, Oxford. There will be no funeral service. There will be a private
ceremony, for family members only. Amnesty International will be holding a
public memorial service -- further details will be announced shortly.
Peter Benenson, the founder of the worldwide human rights organisation Amnesty
International, died yesterday evening. He was 83.
Mr Benenson founded and inspired Amnesty International in 1961 first as a
one-year campaign for the release of six prisoners of conscience. But from there
came a worldwide movement for human rights and in its midst an international
organisation -- Amnesty International -- which has taken up the cases of many
thousands of victims of human rights violations and inspired millions to human
rights defence the world round.
"Peter Benenson’s life was a courageous testament to his visionary commitment to
fight injustice around the world," said Irene Khan, Secretary General of Amnesty
International.
"He brought light into the darkness of prisons, the horror of torture chambers
and tragedy of death camps around the world. This was a man whose conscience
shone in a cruel and terrifying world, who believed in the power of ordinary
people to bring about extraordinary change and, by creating Amnesty
International, he gave each of us the opportunity to make a difference."
"In 1961 his vision gave birth to human rights activism. In 2005 his legacy is a
world wide movement for human rights which will never die."
The one-year Appeal for Amnesty was launched on 28 May 1961, in an article in
the British newspaper, The Observer, called "The Forgotten Prisoners". That
appeal attracted thousands of supporters, and started a worldwide human rights
movement.
The catalyst for the original campaign was Mr Benenson's sense of outrage after
reading an article about the arrest and imprisonment of two students in a café
in Lisbon, Portugal, who had drunk a toast to liberty.
In the first few years of Amnesty International's existence, Mr Benenson
supplied much of the funding for the movement, went on research missions and was
involved in all aspects of the organisation's affairs.
Other activities that Mr Benenson was involved in during his lifetime included;
adopting orphans from the Spanish Civil War, bringing Jews who had fled Hitler's
Germany to Britain, observing trials as a member of the Society of Labour
Lawyers, helping to set up the organisation "Justice" and establishing a society
for people with coeliac disease.
At a ceremony to mark Amnesty International's 25th anniversary, Mr Benenson lit
what has become the organisation's symbol -- a candle entwined in barbed wire --
with the words:
"The candle burns not for us, but for all those whom we failed to rescue from
prison, who were shot on the way to prison, who were tortured, who were
kidnapped, who ‘disappeared’. That is what the candle is for."
Today Amnesty International is into its 44th year. It has become the world’s
largest independent human rights organisation, with more than 1.8 million
members and committed supporters worldwide.

Says
Proposed
"Control Orders" Would Violate Human Rights
The prevention
of terrorism bill makes a mockery of human rights and the rule of law and
contravenes the spirit, if not the letter, of the December 2004 Law Lords'
judgment, Amnesty International said today.
The United Kingdom (UK) Home Secretary Charles Clarke unveiled his proposals for
"control orders" which range from tagging to "house arrest" without charge or
trial and would apply to UK citizens and foreigners alike. The decision to
impose such orders will be taken by the executive alone. The introduction of
"house arrest" without charge or trial requires derogations from the European
Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and the International Convention on Civil and
Political Rights (ICCPR).
"The United Kingdom (UK) government's proposal to issue, debate and pass a piece
of legislation -- introducing draconian measures and further derogating from
obligations under international treaties -- within the next few weeks, is a
repeat of the way in which they railroaded the enactment of the Anti-Terrorism,
Crime and Security Act (ATCSA) in 2001. As such it shows contempt for
parliamentary and public scrutiny and debate," Amnesty International said.
"House arrest without charge or trial is no different from internment at
Belmarsh, Woodhill or Broadmoor. It is still deprivation of liberty. The
provisions for judicial involvement post facto do not alter the arbitrary nature
of this bill," Amnesty International said.
"Those suspected of involvement in 'terrorism' must be charged with a
recognizably criminal offence and tried in proceedings which fully comply with
international fair trial standards."
Amnesty International considers that rather than tabling ill-conceived and
dangerous legislation that contravenes domestic and international human rights
law -- and that if implemented, would lead to serious human rights violations --
the UK authorities should:
o commit themselves to upholding the rule of law and human rights;
o end executive powers to deprive people of their liberty;
o release immediately all those interned unless charged with a recognizably
criminal offence and tried;
o withdraw the derogation from the ECHR and ICCPR;
o end the use of secret evidence to deprive people of their liberty or restrict
their freedoms of movement, expression or association;
o ban the use of torture evidence in any proceedings.
The Home Secretary Charles Clarke justified the draft bill on prevention of
terrorism with the necessity to counter "terrorists" who allegedly want to
attack the UK.
Amnesty International condemns, in the strongest terms, acts of violence against
civilians, whoever the perpetrator and whatever the motive, but at the same time
the organization urges the UK government to ensure that any measure taken to
prevent or respond to such attacks fully conforms with its obligations under
international law, in particular international human rights, refugee and
humanitarian law.
Amnesty International is studying the legislation in detail and will make its
concerns public at a later stage.
Background
The UK government is pushing for the Prevention of Terrorism Bill to be approved
before 14 March when Part 4 of the ATCSA would expire. Under this legislation,
11 people continue to be deprived of their liberty (10 in state institutions and
one under "house arrest"). Most of them have been detained for more than three
years.
Amnesty International is concerned that the new bill falls far short of the Law
Lords ruling of December 2004 that the Home Secretary's power of indefinite
detention without charge or trial of non-deportable foreign "suspected
international terrorists" under the ATCSA 2001 is incompatible with articles 5
and 14 of the ECHR. The UK remains the only country that has derogated from the
ECHR.
The nine Law Lords found that Section 23 of the ATCSA 2001, which allows for the
indefinite detention without charge or trial of non-British nationals, violated
the detainees' human rights because the provisions were disproportionate and
discriminatory. The detainees under this legislation have been held under
severely restrictive regimes in high security prisons and in a high security
psychiatric hospital, one of them is under "house arrest". Concern about their
mental and physical health was heightened by the findings of a report --
published on 13 October 2004 -- prepared by 11 Consultant Psychiatrists and one
Consultant Clinical Psychologist about the serious damage to the health of eight
of the detainees. Amnesty International has repeatedly called for the government
to withdraw this legislation, as it is discriminatory and inconsistent with
international human rights law and standards.

World Music: Aboriginal Music: April 2005
By Pia Mayenin
This month we are taking a peek at Australia and aboriginal
music.
There has been a consistent neglect of Aboriginal music and
its development for many years by the mainstream Australian music industry, with
one or two honourable exceptions. This neglect appears to have been caused by a
belief that Aboriginal music is not viable commercially and the industry's
reluctance to be involved in politically controversial or unpopular issues.
Media exposure of a product is essential for commercial
success but until the last decade it was virtually impossible for Aboriginal
groups to get on mainstream TV or radio. The drive for wider distribution and
success has come mainly from within Aboriginal institutions such as the
Central Australian Aboriginal Media
Association (CAAMA) which is a major radio and TV broadcaster, and the
Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music (CASM). Important Aboriginal groups as
Coloured Stone, No Fixed Address and Scrap Metal all have links with CASM, and
many artists or groups would not have achieved radio or TV exposure without the
work and influence of CAAMA. Amongst the commercial labels, Mushroom Records
stands out as having supported Aboriginal music, publishing artists such as
Yothu Yindi, Warumpi Band, Archie Roach, Coloured Stone and Jimmy Little.

Aboriginal people throughout most of Australia believe that in
the beginning of time, in the Dreaming, there were no visible landmarks; the
world was flat. As time progressed, creatures emerged from the ground and had
the power to change at will from their animal to their human form.
Music song and dance was and is still today a very important part of
Aboriginal life and customs. We had songs for every occasion, hunting songs,
funeral songs, gossip songs and songs of ancestors, landscapes, animals,
seasons, myths and Dreamtime legends.
Aborinees believe that in the begi nning, the time of dreaming
the earth was flat and animals emerged form the ground. The people after and now
are all ancestors of particular animals and their ancestral roots define what
they will sing.
A song is sung as a series comprising many short verses, each of which tells
about a particular event or place associated with the ancestor; or the
performance may be a full ceremonial one which includes portrayal of relevant
events in the performance of dances accompanied by the singing of the
appropriate verses.
The history of aborinal music is
fascinating and and more can be found at the ABORIGINAL AUSTRALIA ART &
CULTURE CENTRE - ALICE SPRINGS
which is 100% Aboriginal owned & operated
They say that for 40 000 years this area has been a traditional "meeting place"
for the trading of Aboriginal artefacts, knowledge, Aboriginal art and
Aboriginal culture.

.
Since the Dreamtime ABORIGINAL AUSTRALIA has developed as a network of separate,
independent Aboriginal nations speaking hundreds of languages and over 700
dialects.
This did not stop the rainforest tribes of the north trading and exchanging
goods and information (music, song, law) with desert groups thousands of miles
to the south.
The Warumpi Band

The band's name derives from the honey-ant
dreaming site located near the settlement of Papunya which is 260 ks west of
Alice Springs. Original founding members were Sammy and Gordon Butcher, Neil
Murray,George Rrurrambu assisted by other young fellas in the community.
The Warumpi Band wrote, recorded and released
the first rock song in an Aboriginal language "Jailanguru Pakarnu" (Out From
Jail) in 1983. In 1984, the debut album "BIG NAME NO BLANKETS" was released with
"Blackfella/Whitefella", "Breadline" and "Fitzroy Crossing" receiving national
airplay.
Sammy Butcher, Gordon Butcher and George
Rrurrambu honoured family and tribal commitments.
Neil Murray, one of the founders of Warumpi in
the early eightees, launched his solo career in 1989 with the album "Calm and
Crystal Clear" and has since released 3 more albums - "These Hands", "Dust" and
"the Wondering Kind". In 1995, he was awarded the APRA Song of the Year for "My
Island Home" , which was written for Warumpi and then became a national hit for
Christine Anu.
Singers in Warumpu included
Hilary Wirrie, Denis Minor, Edgar Ellis

"If it feels like a lifetime since you last heard Christine's
beautiful and distinctive voice offer a new recording, you're not far off the
mark, it's five years."
Contemporary Aboriginal music is a rich and varied activity in
Australia. Aboriginal artists - whether in music or in the visual arts - are
often seen to be engaging in political actions through their work. Singer Jimmy
Little has asserted "the very fact that an Aboriginal performer gets on stage
and sings is a political act" while Galarrwuy Yunupingu, chairman of the
Northern Land Council and brother of Mandawuy Yunupingu, lead singer of the band
Yothu Yindi, commented that "our painting is a political act".
Archie
Roach
has written and performed songs of great beauty and power that are
overtly political in their message and intent.

Archie Roach
Archie Roach is a singer and songwriter of remarkable
strengths and insights. A story teller in the tradition of his ancestors, Archie
relays and retells intimate real life stories as well as traditional stories of
the Dreaming. Having survived a personal history that would have left most
artists scarred and defeated, Archie Roach has emerged as an extraordinarily
gifted Australian artist with a truly visionary talent.

Success of Yothu Yindi

The major breakthrough for the Aboriginal music industry was
the mainstream acceptance and success of
Yothu Yindi. They were formed in 1986 in the Yolngu community of Yirrkala in
Arnhem Land. Yothu Yindi consists of both Yolngu and Balanda (non-Aboriginal)
musicians and embodies a sharing of cultures. They took the ancient song cycles
of north-east Arnhem Land - featuring such traditional instruments as the 'bilma'
(ironwood clapsticks) and 'yidaki' (didjeridu) - and juxtaposed them with
western pop sounds to present a musical meeting of two diverse cultures.

Mandawuy Yunupingu, lead singer for Yothu Yindi
http://www.yothuyindi.com/themusic.html
The success of Yothu Yindi reflects not only a greater
acceptance of Aboriginal culture by white audiences but also a reduced
resistance to Aboriginal music by record companies and radio stations. Mandawuy
Yunupingu has became a spokesman highlighting the Aboriginal struggle for
cultural respect. Yothu Yindi signified a new kind of Aboriginal and Australian
identity with a much greater reliance on traditional Aboriginal culture and
combining this with contemporary means of expression such as rock. Their success
has made it easier for other indigenous artists such as

Aboriginal Australia now has many contemporary voices. There's the sharp, dance

melancholy folk of Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter and the exciting didgeridoo
playing of Alan Dargin, David Hudson and Mark Atkins.

This
is our attempt to raise awareness of many rich and beautiful musical traditions
of the world. This month it is Native American Music next month we shall visit
some other tradition of Music. The world is so rich, so beautiful and so much
full of breathtaking and bewildering array of magic and life, one must admit,
when working on World Music.

Native American Music
Music
is many different things to people. To some just a structured set of notes to
encourage work, to others a spiritual connection whilst to others it is a
therapeutics, relaxation time. Writers such as Aristotle and Hegel talked
of the form and content of music and concluded
Music is a form of
cognition of life . Music does not depict or narrate the whole life but it
is a microcosm of it. To that end it is like a tiny bit of life; to our editor
this will be a microcosm of the "tiny brilliance" we live.
We introduce today the magic
of Native American music. Native American people are those that inhabited North
America, coming from places like Antarctica, 30 thousand years ago.
To the native
Americans it is an experience with God as they consider songs to be gifts
from the Creator. Composers "catch" a song, sometimes in their dreams, and
sometimes through participation with others.

Native American music and to get a experience visit and watch and listen to
